Children’s Scholarship Fund
The BASIC Fund is a part of the Children’s Scholarship Fund (CSF) national network of scholarship granting organizations. CSF and its partner programs are committed to empowering families in need with the ability to choose the K-8 schools that best meet their children's needs, regardless of their ability to pay or where they live. Thanks to scholarships provided by Bay Scholars, each year many BASIC Fund graduates are able to continue with their private education at Bay Area Catholic High Schools. In addition to these valuable scholarships, Bay Scholars also collaborates with The BASIC Fund on strategic projects to increase opportunities for BASIC Fund families while in elementary school, high school and beyond.
Breakthrough San Francisco assists low-income students attending the San Francisco School through after school, summer school and mentoring support. The BASIC Fund partners with Breakthrough SF to provide additional tuition support for all Breakthrough families
SMART provides highly motivated, financially-disadvantaged students in San Francisco with access to educational opportunities, personal experiences and social support services in order to foster academic excellence and community engagement.
Peninsula Bridge assists low-income rising fourth graders in Peninsula communities to continue their education at top-rated middle and high schools, providing after school, summer school and mentoring support. The BASIC Fund partners with Peninsula Bridge to provide additional tuition support for low-income peninsula families as the continue on their private school journey through high school and college.
A Better Chance
A Better Chance focuses on Bay Area students of color with a universal application to some of the nation’s top independent High Schools. Each year The BASIC Fund facilitates ABC’s application process by distributing their application to all of our 8th Graders
Aim High’s award-winning summer program for middle school youth combines rigorous academics with a fun and highly supportive learning environment and has been supporting students and families for 25 years.
Network for Teaching Entrepeneurship
A national organization dedicated to activating the entrepreneurial mindset and start up skills of our country’s youth, NFTE provides professional development and supplies for classroom teachers around the country. Through a generous grant from Chevron, The BASIC Fund has teamed up with NFTE to provide new entrepreneurship classes to middle schools students in the Lumen Christi Academies in the East Bay. Eastside College Prepatory School
Dedicated to providing challenging, high-quality college preparatory curriculum along with extensive support to historically underserved students, 100% of ECP students graduate and are accepted to 4-year colleges. Many BASIC Fund alumni attend ECP, and BASIC Fund works with ECP each year to hire their alumni as our college interns each summer.
The BASIC Fund recognizes that many of our families are unfamiliar with financial literacy principals, banking policies and tools. To help bridge this gap we have partnered with Wells Fargo, who’s employees volunteer to facilitate Financial Literacy Classes at our school sites throughout the year
Founded in 1978, Family Aid – Catholic Education (FACE) provides financial needs-based tuition grants to students who attend Catholic schools in the Oakland Diocese without regard to an applicant's religion, gender, ethnicity or citizenship. The Diocese of Oakland includes 44 elementary and 9 secondary schools throughout Alameda and Contra Costa counties.
Lumen Christi Academies
The newly-formed Lumen Christi Academies is comprised of seven BASIC Fund Partner schools in the East Bay, reorganized under a new governance model empowering operational efficiency, shared resources and a renewed focus on academic excellence with an emphasis on STEM education. The BASIC Fund supports this model and is collaborating with LCI leadership to bring greater opportunities for BASIC Fund scholars
Jewish Vocational Service (JVS) is available for anyone who needs help finding a job. Their training programs build the skills needed to succeed in the workforce. They have been recognized both locally and nationally for their work in sector-based employment and training services, and for their outstanding network of employer partners encompassing all sectors of the local economy.
