History | Program Overview-How does it Work? | Children's Scholarship Fund

In 1998 John Walton was one of the founding supporters of The BASIC Fund. During that same year John and Ted Forstmann co-founded Children’s Scholarship Fund in New York.

CSF provides partial tuition assistance so that low income families are able to send their children to private schools of their choice. In excess of 70,000 children have benefited from Children’s Scholarship’s support. Currently, 24,000 are enjoying this support including 4,000 BASIC Fund students.

CSF matches the money raised by The BASIC Fund on one dollar for every two dollars raised.

Along with Arthur Rock’s matching gift this turns each dollar raised by The BASIC Fund into $3 of scholarships.

We, The BASIC Fund, are proud to be one of the 38 partner programs with Children’s Scholarship Fund around the country.
